From foggy to sunny in no time flat

As a disclaimer: These photos were taken during a visit in September 2017, so this post may not be representative of this site today.

On my fourth day in Helsinki, I awoke to this gorgeous fog covering everything. As you can see from the photos in my previous posts, the days before had been filled with sunlight, and even a little warm, so it was nice to have the opportunity to see Helsinki in a completely different light.

I don’t quite remember the details, but somehow I ended up with a free ticket to a ferry tour of the archipelago just off the coast of mainland Helsinki, so while I intended to visit Suomenlinna a bit later, I took the opportunity of the boat tour — in the misty fog I mentioned earlier.

Needless to say, I was very cold the entire time — sea spray is not at all welcome when you’re cold and the air is already wet — but I still loved the experience and the gorgeous sights.

And, as you can see, the fog significantly cleared up by the time we wound back to Helsinki, so that sunny skies prevailed once again by the time I made it to Suomenlinna. Stay tuned for that next post!
