Nothing like getting slapped in the face by a magnolia tree

Central Park
Our next stop in our short flower-seeking tour had us visiting the magnolia trees around the obelisk at Central Park. While the wind was shaking the branches quite violently (I, embarrassingly, got slapped in the face by a petal at one point, and let me tell you, it was painful) and the ground was nearly fully covered with petals, the blooming trees were still a sight to see.

World, meet Balto, an Alaskan husky who led an entire team of sled dogs in delivering a transport of diphtheria antitoxin, effectively saving the small town of Nome and surrounding areas during a developing epidemic in 1925. His celebrity status led to a motion picture, a nationwide tour on the vaudeville circuit, and this statue designed by Frederick Roth.
