A Daunting Regent

Daunt Books

Daunt Books is located on Marylebone High Street and was founded in 1990 by James Daunt. Though there are several locations elsewhere, the Marylebone branch is located in what was once an Edwardian book and antique shop, formerly called Francis Edwards.

Regent’s Park

This park covers an area of 410 acres (170 hectares), which includes both the London Zoo and Regent’s University. Once an area belonging to monasteries, the property went to the Crown after Henry VIII appropriated it and set it aside as a hunting and forestry park.

The idea for the current park came from George IV, who was Prince Regent at the time, though it was mostly funded by James Burton with designs by John Nash (known for his work on Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square).
